Scientific Name: Citrus Sinensis
Source: Expeller pressed from the orange peel
Uses: Orange oil contains primarily limonene, the compound found in citrus fruits that produce their recognizable citrus odor. Limonene is an antioxidant that fights free radical damage to the body and supports the immune system. It has also been shown to have promise in moderating cancer cell proliferation. Its pleasant odor and anti-microbial properties make it a great addition to many diffuser blends and DIY cleaning solutions.
Suggested Usage: As a DIY kitchen cleaner, mix equal parts water to vinegar and add 25 drops of orange oil, 15 drops of bergamot oil and 5 of eucalyptus oil. Put in all purpose spray bottle and shake well before each use. Orange oil has shown an ability to prevent the growth of e.coli, a common foodborne illness. Orange oil is considered generally safe for all surfaces so it can also be used to make a DIY dusting spray. To one cup of water add 1/4 cup of vinegar and two teaspoons of olive oil and 10-15 drops of orange oil. This not only disinfects your surfaces but conditions your wood as well.
